Cardiac Rehabilitation and Fitness
Cardiac Fitness is a Lifestyle Program
Cardiac fitness is not just an exercise program; it's a lifestyle program. You may be familiar with the old term "cardiac rehab", which referred to recovering your fitness after a heart attack. The terminology has evolved to "cardiac fitness" because the way you live your life can play a big role in keeping your heart healthy. A healthy lifestyle is necessary for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of cardiovascular disease.
If you have been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease or are genuinely interested in keeping your heart healthy, Rockdale Medical Center’s cardiac fitness program can help you. Our focus is on building a healthy life for you. Our participants range in age from their early 30s to their 90s.
Our staff will design an exercise program based on your needs and abilities, and with the goal to improve your cardiovascular health and fitness. The program's supportive group atmosphere is friendly and non-competitive. This makes it easier for you to feel comfortable. Everyone is working on a similar goal. You can walk in the door and fit right in.
We Are Here To Help You!
Rockdale Medical Center’s cardiac fitness program involves a team of physicians, exercise physiologists, cardiac-trained registered nurses, registered dieticians, and exercise physiology graduate students. Our facility offers a wide range of modern exercise equipment, including treadmills, rowers, stationary exercise bicycles, arm ergometers, stair climbers, and free weights.
While you exercise, you will receive immediate feedback from staff members based on your own exercise and wellness program. This feedback covers your overall physical and medical conditioning as well as your blood pressure, heart rate and heart rhythm. We will also keep in contact with your personal doctor.
You will receive our expert training to help reduce your risk factors for heart and blood vessel disease as well as reduce the likelihood of developing other health problems.
Risk factors include:
- High blood pressure
- Elevated blood cholesterol or lipid levels
- Lack of regular exercise
- Being overweight
- Stress, anger, anxiety
- Family history of heart disease
Our program is located in Rockdale Medical Center at the South Entrance off Milstead Road and has convenient free parking in front of the entrance.
