Kimberley Chance Atkins Foundation

Rockdale Medical Center is very supportive of the Kimberley Chance Atkins Foundation. The foundation was created with the initial goal to raise money to purchase a mobile mammography unit to serve the population of Rockdale County and other counties east of Rockdale. Over time, it became evident that the cost, upkeep, insurance and ongoing technology needs of the unit were not as cost effective as the KCAF had anticipated. In an effort to continue efforts of preventing breast cancer and promoting breast health awareness locally, the KCAF Board of Directors decided to explore other opportunities

In late 2011, the Kimberley Chance Atkins Foundation entered into an agreement with the Rockdale County Health Department and Rockdale Medical Center. The KCAF agreed to assist with funding mammograms, as funds were available, for uninsured and underinsured women referred to Rockdale Medical Center by the Rockdale County Health Department. To date, KCAF has funded 227 mammograms and procedures at RMC and one case of breast cancer has been detected. Read the Foundation's newsletter.

It is thanks to sponsors, supporters and volunteers like those associated with the Kimberley Chance Atkins Foundation that the funding for these potentially life-saving mammograms has been provided. As KCAF continues supporting these programs and seeks other opportunities to promote outreach and raise awareness, we appreciate your support as a sponsor and ongoing supporter of our mission.
